Last month, our very own Kyle Shatzer presented at the Breakthroughs in Tunneling Short Course at the University of Denver, delivering a compelling presentation on Tunnel Instrumentation and Settlement Control.

 

What is the Tunneling Short Course?

The Breakthroughs in Tunneling Short Course celebrated its 17th year and is the longest-running and most-attended course of its kind. It was presented by leading practitioners from around the globe and focused on real-world solutions for tunneling challenges. The course covered all aspects of tunneling including cutting-edge case studies, developing technologies, and global trends.

Who is Sixense’s Kyle Shatzer?

Kyle Shatzer is rounding out the 12th year of his geotechnical engineering career. He has been fortunate to work across a diverse range of projects and sectors, including heavy-highway construction, deep foundations & ground improvement, and most recently large-scale geotechnical instrumentation programs for dams, tunnels, and other critical infrastructure projects.

Kyle graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2012 with B.S. and M.S. degrees in civil engineering (advanced infrastructure systems focus). He is an actively licensed Professional Engineer in seven states and currently serves as president of the Minnesota Geotechnical Society. Outside of work, he enjoys mountain biking, canoe trips, making music, and spending time with his dog.
