Advancing Infrastructure Management with InSAR Technology
We are proud to announce that a consortium led by Sixense and Imperial College London, supported by experts from Royal Holloway, Crossrail, and Thames Tideway, has been selected to produce a CIRIA (Construction Industry Research and Information Association) guidance report on the application of Earth Observation and InSAR Technology in civil infrastructure. This groundbreaking report will leverage the extensive expertise of the consortium to detail current practices, provide case study examples, and outline the benefits and limitations of various techniques. Additionally, CIRIA will develop a separate online database of case studies to complement this guidance document.
A Vital Resource for Asset Management and Construction
The forthcoming guidance report is set to become an essential resource for stakeholders in asset management and construction. It will serve as both an introduction for newcomers to Earth Observation and InSAR Technology and a valuable reference for those already utilizing these advanced tools. By reviewing current practices and ongoing developments, the report aims to enhance understanding and adoption of Earth Observation techniques in civil engineering.
The Importance of Precision and Accuracy in Civil Infrastructure
Civil engineering projects, including construction, maintenance, and monitoring, demand high levels of spatiotemporal accuracy and precision in observations and measurements. Satellite-based remote sensing methods, such as those using InSAR Technology, now provide data and insights of unparalleled quality. However, there is a notable lack of established standards and regulations for best practices in the production and application of Earth Observation products.
Recognizing this gap, CIRIA aims to inform industry stakeholders and unlock the full potential of Earth Observation techniques. This guidance report is a significant step forward in establishing best practices for employing Earth Observation and InSAR Technology in infrastructure management and construction projects.
