The SixGyro north-seeking gyroscopic probe provides accurate borehole deviation measurements at any depth and at any inclination: horizontal, vertical, or anything in between.
Supplied with centralizers, the system can be used in boreholes of virtually any diameter. Measurements can be taken in open or cased holes, as well as inside metal drill pipes, since the probe is fully immune to magnetic interference.
Compact and lightweight, the SixGyro probe measures just 0.87 inches in diameter, 27.6 inches in length, and weighs approximately 8.8 pounds, making it easy for a single operator to handle. The operator defines the measurement interval, and the process is fast—typically around 15 minutes for a 98‑foot borehole using 3.3‑foot steps.
As with most deviation systems, the initial azimuth must be determined using an external method such as topographic survey or GPS and then entered into the system.
